“Living in Northeast Florida most of my life, I have followed the Jazz Festival ever since I attended the first festival held in Mayport with my father. I grew up listening to jazz as my father frequently enjoyed records from the 1950’s and seeing Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan and Gerry Mulligan perform in later festival events was especially thrilling for me!
I have been an illustrator and designer since my teens and felt great admiration/inspiration for the diverse festival poster art created in those early years to promote the event. For the 2021 40th Anniversary poster, I wanted to continue in that tradition to create an image that not only represented the grace and talent of the jazz performer, but in a setting of energy and light that evokes the spirit of joy and excitement the event has brought to Jacksonville for so many years!”
